Renovation of a municipal facility in Greenwood, South Carolina. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a one-story above grade municipal facility.
The work is to replace and rehabilitate existing structures and facilities and create a more functional work environment on the site, which will remain the administrative nucleus for Public Works and Fleet Maintenance. Existing fleet maintenance, vehicle impound, fleet wash station, fueling station, and equipment storage functions are to remain on the campus. Storage of materials such as mulch, stone, and other bulk materials, as well as an aboveground waste oil tank, are to remain. The scope includes improvements to provide adequate office, restroom/shower, breakroom/training room(s), and equipment/parts storage space; eliminate flooding during heavy rains; upgrade security and site lighting; provide adequate storage for heavy-duty vehicles and equipment; expand work areas to accommodate larger maintenance equipment; improve traffic flow around buildings and the fueling island; improve climate control; add vehicle lifts and automatic gates; incorporate drive-thru maintenance bays; and install badge access for pedestrian gates and building doors. Additional upgrades that are requested but not mandatory include paved areas for vehicle and equipment traffic, loading dock, opaque screening of the impound lot, covered storage areas for specialty trailers, emergency generator, parking considerations, black vinyl fencing, natural lighting in work areas, underground utilities, uniform drop-off location, and a customer waiting area. The active campus requires comprehensive planning and coordination during construction to maintain 24/7 operations safely and in compliance, including phased work as needed. The estimated project cost is $8.9 million with $7 million approved for funding; additional funding sources are being sought and innovative, cost-effective designs will be considered. Construction Manager At Risk (CMAR) delivery is a consideration as well. Question Deadline 01/06/2026 at 5:00 PM ET Rebecca Bowyer, Rebecca.bowyer@gwdcity.com
