Renovation of a laboratory facility in Hampton, Virginia. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a laboratory facility.
The project involves repairs and renovations to POL Operations and Fuel Facilities Buildings 741 and 744. For Facility 741 (Petroleum Operations Building), the scope includes renovating the existing building footprint to provide functional spaces for Fuel Support Command, Fuels Management, and auxiliary operations. Renovations require raising the ceiling height to meet code, installing a new roof with improved drainage and thermal envelope, and replacing HVAC systems, water heating equipment, plumbing fixtures, and electrical and communications/data systems. The existing fire alarm system will be demolished and replaced with a new fire alarm and mass notification system, along with updated life safety systems. For Facility 744 (Fuel Facility Lab Building), the scope includes demolition of the existing building and construction of a new Type C++ Fuels laboratory. The new lab will feature laboratory spaces, workstations, open office areas, and restrooms for staff. Work includes complete building electrical and data communications, plumbing, HVAC, and fire protection systems. Repair by replacement of Building 744 has been authorized. The estimated range for this acquisition is $5,000,000 to $10,000,000, with an approximate award date of March 30, 2026. The Method of Contractor Selection has not been determined at this Time. *The value for this project is based on a financial range.
