Site work and paving for a road / highway in Huntsville, Alabama. Completed plans call for site work for a one-story above grade road / highway.
Sealed bids in duplicate are sought for the construction of Highway 72 East Intersection Improvements near Shields Road, identified as Project No. 71-25-SP39. The work includes intersection improvements along US Highway 72 just east of Shields Road. Bidders must have a valid general contractors license with State of Alabama Classification of (HS) Highways & Streets or (MU) Municipal & Utility. Bids will be evaluated based on a summation of quantities and unit bid prices indicated in Attachment A and the lowest responsible, responsive bidder will be considered. Bids must be signed and accompanied by a cashiers check or a properly signed bid bond, not less than 5% of the total amount or $10,000, whichever is less. After bid opening, bids shall remain valid for ninety (90) days. Contractors must submit pricing on a thumb/flash drive (Excel format) and two signed hard copies, using official files downloaded from the City of Huntsvilles website. The bid envelope must state the contractors license number, name, address, project name/number, and bid opening info. All bids must be sealed. Required supporting documentation includes a signed Bid Bond and E-Verify Memorandum of Understanding. Compliance with the Alabama Immigration Act and Alabama Act 2016-312 is mandatory, including anti-boycott certification and submission of a Report of Ownership Form. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids. Question Deadline - 12/18/2025 5:00 PM Description of Project: Intersection improvements along US Highway 72 just east of Shields Road. The attention of all bidders is called to Code of Alabama 34-8-1 and 34-8-2 (1975) and 34-8-1, 34-8-2, 34-8-4, 34-8-6, 34-8-7, 34-8-8 and 34-8-9 (amended 1996) setting forth the definition of general contractor and the licensing procedures and requirements for state licensing. A copy of the above Codes may be obtained from the OWNER (City of Huntsville). No one is entitled to bid and no contract may be awarded to anyone who does not possess a valid general contractor's license and the required classification for the municipal type work to be performed. The general contractor's license and classification must appear on the outside of the bid envelope along with the general contractor's name and address, project name and number and date and time of bid opening. Section 39-3-5 Code of Alabama has been amended as follows
