Demolition, site work, renovation and addition to a museum in Delray Beach, Florida. Conceptual plans call for the addition of a museum; for the demolition of a museum; for the renovation of a museum; and for site work for a museum.
This project request is for the completion of the final phase of the gardens expansion and exhibit areas at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. The final phase of the Japanese Gardens is a land bridge called the Amanohashidate ("bridge to heaven"), a re-creation of the actual Amanohashidate site in Miyazu, Japan, George Morikamis birthplace. The expansion of the exhibit areas would restructure the existing floor plan, offices, and supporting amenities, creating an estimated 10,000 to 12,000 additional square foot area within the galleries, collections, and museum store. The project is included in the County's 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of December 15, 2025, further details have not yet been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
