The City of Richmond, Virginia, on behalf of the Department of Public Utilities, seeks bids from qualified firms to provide general contracting services for the construction of the Shockoe Diversion Structure Belt Conveyor project. The services include the purchase and installation of a conveyor belt system in the West Diversion structure at Shockoe. The goal is to streamline the efficiency of dumpster collection operations by replacing the current system of six dumpsters and nine trash rakes with a conveyor belt system that captures all debris from each trash rake and carries it to a single dumpster at the end of the conveyor belt. QA date :- 01/14/2025 at 5pm General: The work to be done under this contract includes improvements to the Shockoe West Diversion Structure at 1617 E Byrd Street as described and shown in the contract documents. In summary, the project includes the installation of a new conveyor system at the West Diversion Structure. The Work includes: A. Conveyor Belt includes but is not limited to the following: 1. Furnish and install a conveyor belt. 2. Modification of existing rake discharge chutes. 3. Modifications to existing dumpsters. 4. Furnish and install drainpipe from conveyor. 5. Electrical and control work to power and operate the mechanical trash rake. 6. Adding the conveyor to the existing SCADA system. B. Provide general contracting services that include, but not limited to metals, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls and other specialties. C. Implied and Normally Required Work: It is the intent of these Specifications to provide the Owner with complete operable systems, subsystems and other items of Work. Any part or item of Work which is reasonably implied or normally required to make each installation satisfactorily and completely operable is deemed to be included in the Work and the Contract Amount. All miscellaneous appurtenances and other items of Work incidental to meeting the intent of these Specifications are included in the Work and the Contract Amount even though these appurtenances may not be specifically called for in these Specifications. D. Quality of Work: Regard the apparent silence of the Contract Documents as to any detail, or the apparent omission from them of a detailed description concerning any Work to be done and materials to be furnished as meaning that only the best general practice is to prevail and that only materials and workmanship of the best quality are to be used. Interpretation of these specifications will be made upon this basis. E. Compliance with Laws: Comply with all local, State and Federal laws, rules, ordinances and regulations applicable to this Contract and to the work done hereunder. Obtain all permits, licenses or other authorization necessary for the prosecution of the work. The costs for all such permits shall be included in the contract price and no separate payment will be made therefore, except for permit fees paid by the City for this project as noted in Section 01900.
