Sealed bids are requested for the Intersection Improvements at North Main Street and West Street project. Each bid must include a bid security in the form of a bid bond, cash, or certified check amounting to 5% of the total bid price. The successful bidder must provide performance and payment bonds, each equal to 100% of the contract price. All bids must comply with applicable public bidding laws of Massachusetts. Attention is called to the minimum wage rates as determined by the Commissioner of Labor and Workforce Development and the requirement for weekly payroll record submissions according to Massachusetts General Laws. Contractor selection will be based on bidder qualifications, prior performance on similar projects, and bid price. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible and eligible bidder. Every request for such interpretation should be in writing and submitted to Paul Starratt, P.E., Town Engineer, via email to pstarratt@westfordma.gov. To be given consideration, all questions must be received by January 7, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. (noon). This transportation improvement project consists of pedestrian safety improvements at the intersection of North Main Street and West Street. The project area limits encompass approximately 335 feet of North Main Street and 185 feet of West Street. The Work will include the realignment of West Street, ADA compliant pedestrian curb ramps, sidewalk reconstruction, full depth pavement, pavement milling and overlay, pavement markings, and signs. The Work also includes earth excavation, Superpave asphalt pavement, granite curbing, drainage structures and pipe, tree protection, and all work incidental thereto, in accordance with the Specifications and conceptual plans attached hereto. Additional drawings showing details in accordance with which the Work is to be done may be furnished by addendum from time to time during the bidding period by the Owner or its Engineer and shall then become a part of the Contract Documents. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, services, materials, equipment, plant, machinery, apparatus, appliances, tools, supplies, and all other things necessary to do all work required for the completion of each item of the Work and as herein specified. The Work to be done and paid for under any item shall not be limited to the exact extent mentioned or described but shall include all incidental work necessary or customarily done for the completion of that item.
