This is a highly responsible position that includes training to operate, monitor, and control activities of the City of Avery Wastewater Treatment Plant. Essential job functions include collecting and analyzing water and wastewater samples from all phases of the water distribution and wastewater treatment process using established procedures. The position requires operating and maintaining various types of pumps, valves, chemical feeders, and all equipment associated with the plant, as well as maintaining accurate operational records. The operator-in-training will learn to perform operation and maintenance of all aspects of the Water Distribution and Wastewater Treatment Plant. Work shifts include weekends and holidays, and the position is always on call.
