Site work for a civil project in West Babylon, New York. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

The work consists of the following: The construction of the new Huntington Station Hub Pump Station and improvements to the Walt Whitman and McGovern Pump Stations. The following is a summary of the work: Walt Whitman Pump Station (Upgrade) 1. Demolition and removal of the existing submersible pumps. 2. Maintenance and operation of a bypass system as necessary to replace the submersible pumps 3. Furnishing and installation of: a. Submersible pumps complete with all appurtenances and controls. b. A gas-driven generator c. Discharge check valves d. A transition manhole Huntington Hub Pump Station (New) This includes the furnishing and installation of the following: 1. A wetwell, grinder chamber and transition manhole 2. Submersible pumps complete with all appurtenances and controls. 3. A prefabricated control building 4. New gas driven generator 5. A drainage system 6. Extension of the gravity pipe installed under Contract 2 to the screening chamber 7. Connection of the ductile iron force main from the wetwell to the transition manhole and the HDPE force main from there to the force main installed under Contract 2 McGovern Pump Station (Upgrade) 1. Removal and replacement of the existing submersible pumps 2. Furnishing and installation of new wiring and conduit. 3. Bids for this contract shall be submitted in a separate sealed envelope with the name of the contract clearly noted on the outside of the envelope. Bids shall be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the total Base Bid, made payable to the Suffolk County Comptroller. This bid bond will be held as a guarantee that in the event the bid is accepted and contract awarded to the Bidder, the contract will be duly executed and properly secured. E-MAILED BIDS WILL BE CONSIDERED UNRESPONSIVE Awards will be made to the lowest responsive and responsible Bidder in conjunction with Section A4-14 of the Suffolk County Administrative Code establishing an optional ten percent (10%) local (Nassau/Suffolk) preference program for Suffolk County contracts This project is a PLA project. The Project is to be bid as a single prime project. Bidders shall submit with their bids, a separate sealed list that names each subcontractor that the bidder will use to perform work on the contract, and the agreed-upon amount to be paid to each as applicable, for: (a) plumbing and gas fitting (i.e., Plumbing Work) (b) steam heating, hot water heating, ventilating and air conditioning apparatus (i.e., HVAC Work which includes fire sprinkler) and (c) electric wiring and standard illuminating fixtures (i.e., Electrical Work). The apparent low bidder's subcontract information will be opened and read aloud at the bid opening. The Commissioner of Public Works reserves the right to reject any and all bids. SCOPE OF WORK A. General: Furnish all labor, materials, equipment and appurtenant work necessary to construct all work as shown, specified and required for the new Huntington Station Hub Pump Station and improvements to the Walt Whitman, and McGovern Pump Stations excluding equipment and systems furnished under other Contracts. B. Major items of work under this Contract include, but are not necessarily limited to: 1. Huntington Hub Pump Station o Furnish and install approximately 30 linear feet of 10-inch diameter ductile iron gravity sewer. o Furnish and install approximately 30 linear feet of 8-inch diameter ductile iron force main pipe. o Furnish and install approximately 30' of 10" DR11 butt-fused HDPE force main pipe. o Furnish and install one (1) precast transition manhole on the proposed force main located within the pump station property. o Furnish, install and test one (1) precast grinder chamber including one (1) grinder, slide gates, and associated appurtenances. o Furnish, install and test one (1) precast wet well including two (2) main sewage pumps, and associated piping valves, and appurtenances. o Furnish and install one (1) control building and footing. o Furnish and install hoist sockets. o Install site drainage system, fencing, and proposed plantings and landscape trees as shown and specified. o Furnish and install all building accessories and adornments as shown and specified. o Site restoration o Furnish and install all security and life safety devices as specified and required. o Furnish and install natural gas generator with all appurtenant and otherwise required equipment as specified.. o Furnish and install HVAC equipment as shown and specified. o Furnish and install new electrical service. This includes all coordination and approval with PSEG as required. o Furnish and install all electrical equipment, devices and appurtenances as shown and specified. o Furnish and install all conduit and wire necessary to power all equipment installed under this Contract. o Furnish and install an Electric Vehicle charging system. o Coordination of work schedule with Contract 2 contractor. o Start-up and testing of systems; 2. Walt Whitman Pump Station: o Maintenance of sewage flow during construction, including sequencing of construction and furnishing, installing and operating a bypass pumping system as required by the Contract Documents and Specifications or as required to complete the work. o Temporary facilities for Contractor's use. o Demolition, removal and disposal of the existing sewage pumping system, including two (2) main sewage pumps and associated valves, pipe, fittings, supports, etc., as shown and specified. o Demolition and removal of the existing pump controls, including the existing level sensing systems. o Cleaning of the wet wells and influent channels, including removal of all residual sludge, grit, grease, debris, etc. o Installation of two (2) new main sewage pumps. o Furnishing and installation of valves, piping, fittings, supports and appurtenances. o Furnishing and installation of new main sewage pump control panel, including new level sensing systems. o Furnishing and installation of new manual hoist. o Furnishing, and installation of SCADA System additions. o Installation of new generator including all associates valves, piping, fittings, etc. o Demolition of existing electrical systems, including lighting, conduit, wires, disconnection of equipment and disconnect switches as shown and specified. o Furnishing and installation of new Main Sewage Pump motor starters and control panels. o Furnishing and installation of new lighting, conduit, wire, pull boxes, etc., as shown and specified and as required to complete the work. o Furnishing and installation of new power, control and instrumentation connections to all equipment furnished. o Site restoration. o Start-up and testing of systems. 3. McGovern Pump Station: o Demolition of existing main sewage pumps. o Furnish and install new main sewage pumps and all related and or affected appurtenances or electrical/plumbing connections. o Furnish and install new pump cabling from control panel. o Start-up and testing of systems related to new installations. o Site Restoration as required for new electrical installations. 4. General: o Submittals, including approval Operation and Maintenance Manuals for furnished equipment and approvable As-Built Drawings. o Development and maintenance of the Project Schedule, coordinating work with other Contracts. o The foregoing is a general description only and shall not be construed as a complete description of the Work to be performed for this Project. Contract be completed within 540 consecutive calendar days. Question Deadline 01/30/2026 No oral interpretation of the Drawings, Specifications or other Contract Documents will be given to any bidder. Every request for such interpretation shall be addressed in writing to the Commissioner of Public Works and must be received at least five (5) days prior to the date set for the opening of the bids. For purposes of this procurement, the Department hereby establishes an overall goal of 30% for Minority and WomenOwned Business Enterprises ("MWBE") participation, (based on the current availability of qualified MBEs and WBEs).
