The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is seeking competitive bids for the complete construction of an approximately 610-foot composite boardwalk within Myakka State Forest located in Englewood, Florida. The boardwalk must comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and be constructed according to the technical specifications and design plans provided. Interested bidders must comply with all terms and conditions described in the solicitation. The intent is to make a single award or none, as determined to be in the best interest of the State. Bidders are strongly recommended to inspect the site to understand conditions that may impact the preparation and cost of their bid. Certain requirements and material conditions outlined in the solicitation must be strictly followed, and deviations may result in rejection of the bid. Last day for Bidders to Submit Questions January 12, 2026 5:00 PM Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Email: ConstructionBids@FDCAS.gov 1) CONSTRUCT ADA-COMPLIANT BOARDWALK a) Pilings: o Install approximately 142 treated wood piles (10-inch diameter). o Upland areas: Use 080 PCF CCA or 0.41 CA. o Saltwater exposure: Use dual treatment due to marine borers: o CCA at 1.00 PCF followed by Creosote (CR or CR-S) at 20.00 PCF. o Treatment must comply with AWPA UC5B / UC5C standards. b) Boardwalk Decking: o Install approximately 4,000 square feet (SF) of composite decking. o Must meet or exceed the minimum requirements of Chapter 23 of the Florida Building Code. c) Observation Decks and Seating Areas: o Include ADA-compliant benches at mid-walk locations. o Ensure adequate wheelchair turning radius at each 10'x22'4" observation deck. o Design must comply with ADA and Florida Accessibility Code. d) Additional Elements: o Install ADA interpretive signage. o Silt fencing for erosion and sediment control 2) CONSTRUCT HANDRAIL SYSTEM a) Guard Rail: o Install approximately 1,270 linear feet (LF) of guardrail. o Use 10.5-gauge, 36-inch wide black PVC-coated wire mesh (e.g., Riverdale Aquamesh (R)). o Mesh must be: o Hot-dip galvanized after welding. o Marine-grade PVC coated. o Designed for saltwater durability. o Guardrails must mee Florida Building Code Section 1607.9.1. o Resist 50lbs. / LF linear load. b) Drop Rails and ADA Signage: o Install ADA-compliant drop rails with interpretive signage. o Maximum width: 72-inches. o Signage must meet ADA tactile and visual standards for permanent identification. o Refer to Sheet G102 in Appendix I for signage dimensions and placement.
