SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE DEMOLITION ARE AS FOLLOW: A. Upon execution of a contract, Peoria County shall issue a Notice to Proceed. No activities related to the demolition and asbestos abatement are to begin until such Notice has been issued. B. Prior to beginning any demolition work, the Contractor shall test the property for asbestos within five (5) working days of the signing of a contract. The Contractor shall immediately notify the Zoning Administrator of the results of said test. If the asbestos test is POSITIVE for friable asbestos, the Contractor shall award a sub-contract for the abatement of asbestos to a licensed asbestos worker in accordance with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). No demolition work shall begin until the asbestos is abated. If the asbestos test is POSITIVE for nonfriable asbestos only, then documentation of a written Asbestos Project Notification Form and any required fees submitted to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) and/or Illinois Department of Public Health shall be the responsibility of the contractor. The contractor shall have five (5) working days to submit the notification to the IEPA and/or IDPH after receiving the asbestos test results. The contractor must provide a copy of the notification to the Planning & Zoning Department.
