Proposed bitumen pipeline to the northwest BC coast. Project aims to transport up to one million barrels per day of oilsands crude to a marine terminal, likely at the Port of Prince Rupert, for export to Asia. TIMELINE: Project is conceptual only in the pre-application stage. The Alberta government has launched a website for this project as a central hub for project information and updates. Early planning work only is underway, engaging Indigenous communities, determining the pipeline's route and size, and demonstrating market demand and economic viability. A route has yet to be selected; the pipeline may however go to the Port of Prince Rupert, BC. There are currently no official developers on board to build the pipeline. The province plans to submit an application to the federal government major projects office by July 1, 2026. *Construction cost is currently unavailable.
