The University of Kentucky seeks the services of a full design team, including a local Architect (AOR) and all applicable consultants, to initiate the design phase for the expansion and renovation of the Dorothea Smith Oatts Visitor Center at the Arboretum, State Botanical Garden of Kentucky for the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and the Environment. The project involves expanding and renovating various components of the Visitor Center, making site improvements adjacent to the building, enhancing the visitor experience, and addressing other improvements at the Arboretum, such as pedestrian access and safety enhancements, expanded parking areas, improved operations and maintenance facilities, an education center, and improvements to the Walk Across Kentucky trail system. The design will be constructed in phases, with the Visitor Center as Phase 1 and subsequent phases to be determined. The design team is responsible for preparing design and construction documents and estimates in accordance with University standards and ensuring budget compatibility. Firms should focus their submittals on the unique issues and needs of this project, demonstrate special relevant experience, and include concise evidence of their qualifications, relevant team experience, and Project Manager's qualifications. The submission must include a brief executive summary, team member roles, and specific project examples relevant to the criteria outlined.
