Site work for a water / sewer project in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

The Village of Elk Grove Village will receive sealed bids for an Abandonment in Place of a 4,000 gallon Underground Storage Tank, located at 900 Wellington Ave., Elk Grove Village, IL 60007. Three 10,000 gallon petroleum underground tanks will be removed from the Biesterfield Yard under this contract bidding. Bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope addressed to the Elk Grove Village Public Works Department, 450 East Devon Avenue, IL, 60007-3499, and marked to indicate the following: "901 Wellington Avenue UST Abandon in Place, and 1635 Biesterfield Road UST Tank Removals Sealed Bid, Do Not Open". 901 Wellington Fire Station Yard (4,000 gal fiberglass gasoline UST) Prior to abandonment event, contractor shall obtain OSFM abandon in place and confined space entry permits, if applicable. The deigan group will provide lab data and figures to support the OSFM abandon in place permit application. The contractor is responsible for scheduling with OSFM and Village inspection of the tank abandonment event. Village will empty fuel from the UST to the degree practical by dispenser. Residual waste liquid/fuel shall be removed by Contractor via a vacuum tanker truck and transported for re-use and/or treatment/disposal to a properly licensed off-site treatment or recycling facility. The contractor shall remove any heel or residual product present in the UST that is not pumpable and add adsorbent for disposal as solid waste. Once all product is removed and the tank is properly cleaned, an Illinois OSFM-approved inert material shall be added to the tanks. Inert material shall be added through the openings in the top of the tank to minimize any surface settling subsequent to abandonment in place. The scope of work also includes contractor cleaning and removal of one associated dispenser unit, Fuel Master Unit, dispenser piping, and transfer piping, two (2) bollards. Dispenser and Fuel Master Units shall be placed on contractor-provided pallets and relocated inside the Fire Station for Village future re-use. The concrete covering the USTs shall be removed/cut as needed to allow worker access to the tank for cleaning and product removal. The concrete pad covering the UST, under the dispenser and Fuel Master shall be removed and hauled to off-site concrete recycling. Concrete removal and disposal shall be paid as an incidental Lump Sum item in the Contractors bid. Contractor shall protect concrete curbs and driveway and all Village property and utilities adjoining the UST location. Contractor shall be responsible for repair or replacement of damaged caused by Contractor's actions. Contractor shall provide all abandonment in place paperwork for OSFM. 1635 Biesterfield Public Works Fleet Yard (Three 10,000 gallon fiberglass USTs (2 gasoline, 1 diesel) Scope of work shall include obtaining permits for the excavation, removal, demolition, and destruction of the underground storage tanks (UST) listed above and described in OSFM documents. Residual fuel/liquid, if present shall be removed via a vacuum tanker truck and transported for treatment/disposal to a properly licensed off-site treatment or recycling facility. The amount of fuel remaining in the USTs is nominal. All remaining fuel with salvage value will become the property of the selected contractor. Additionally, water in UST cavity displaying a sheen shall be removed via vacuum tanker truck if directed by the Village's Representative. The contractor shall remove any heel or residual product present in the USTs that is not pumpable and add adsorbent for disposal as solid waste. The scope of work also includes contractor removal of all associated dispenser islands, product underground piping, and vent piping associated with the USTs. The concrete and asphalt covering the USTs shall be removed and properly disposed off-site under this contract. Concrete/asphalt removal and disposal shall be considered incidental contract work and included in the UST removal bid item. This is a TOTAL BID payment for removal and disposal of three (3) 10,000-gal underground fuel storage tanks, related dispenser islands, bollards, fuel master, and transfer/vent piping. Contractor shall be paid for furnishing and placing CA6 aggregate on a per ton basis, based on verified quarry scale or material yard tickets. Estimate 285 tons of CA6 to be supplied, placed, compacted to graded. Asphalt/concrete replacement is by others, not included in this contract.
