REQUEST FOR STATEMENTS OF INTEREST BRIDGE DESIGN SERVICES The existing structure, currently weight restricted at 9 Tons, Except Combinations 14 Tons and designated as Functionally Obsolete and Structurally Deficient, was constructed in 1900 and reconstructed in 1978. The bridge is comprised of a steel multi-beam superstructure with an open steel grid deck supported on stone abutments with a pressure mortar coating. The structure length is 77' and includes two 32.75' clear spans, with roadway width on the bridge 15.6' curb-tocurb. The County of Berks will retain a PennDOT qualified engineering consultant to provide environmental studies, preliminary engineering, final design, right-of-way acquisition services, and construction consultation for the replacement of Kricks Mill Bridge, County Bridge #49A, Kricks Mill Road over Tulpehocken Creek in Jefferson Township, Berks County. The new structure will meet current PennDOT design and safety standards and will be constructed in accordance with PennDOT Publication 408 with a context-sensitive design approach. The consultant and any subconsultants must be a PennDOT ECMS Registered Business Partner. Evaluation factors, in order of importance, are: - Specific experience of proposed team members, especially with PennDOT procedures and specifications (40%) - Consultant's overall bridge design experience, abilities, project concept, and approach (25%) - Project manager's experience with similar projects (20%) - Approach to project delivery, developing a realistic design schedule, and completing the project within budget (15%) A full technical proposal will be required from the selected consultant.
