The General Services Department of Kansas City, Missouri is soliciting Design Build services for Project Number 89061156 titled Wornall Rd Sidewalks - W 51st St to Ward Pkwy. The project requires submission of a sealed Technical Approach and a sealed Price Submittal by specified deadlines at City Hall, 414 E 12th Street, Kansas City, Missouri. Bidders are requested to attend a mandatory Pre-Bid Conference. The city encourages maximum participation from Minority Business Enterprises (MBE) and Women's Business Enterprises (WBE), with set goals for each at 14%. Bidding documents and addenda will be available online. Instructions specify attending the pre-bid conference and submitting the required sealed documents by the noted deadlines. employment goals of 10% minority and 2% women Work substantially completed by April 30, 2027. The Work shall be completed and ready for final payment in accordance with Paragraph 13.06 within THIRTY (30) Calendar Days after the date of Substantial Completion of the Work. The scope of the work for the project includes the following: 1- Project Limits: a. 51 st St to Ward Pkwy b. Intersection of 52 nd St & Wornall Rd 2- Public engagement a. Outreach and communication throughout design b. Incorporation of PSP/alternatives and community feedback 3- Pedestrian Crossing Improvement a. 52 nd St & Wornall Rd 4- Corridor Improvements - Pedestrian/Bicycle a. Improve pedestrian/bike access b/w 51 st St to Ward Pkwy b. 4-3lane conversion consisting of: i. Resurfacing ii. Pavement markings iii. Updated Signage c. Intersection improvements: i. 51 st & Wornall ii. 49 th & Wornall iii. Ward Pkwy & Wornall 5- Sidewalks/shared used path/bike lanes a. Installation or reconstruction based on selected alternative 6- Street Lighting a. Relocation as needed b. Addition of pedestrian-level lighting for safety and visibility 7- Corridor Aesthetics a. Treatments for separation and beautification between travel lanes and bike/shared-use facilities 8- Utility coordination and relocations a. Work with utility owners to identify conflicts and relocate facilities as required such as Fire Hydrants, Storm water etc. 9- Misc. a. Additional design elements etc. that are not captured above Project Risks/Constraints: 1- Retaining walls a. Retaining walls on both sides of the corridor are preferred to remain as-is. b. Preferred to remove the sidewalk/close the walking path on the east side. 2- Traffic Control a. Need to maintain one-lane travel throughout construction 3- Business Access a. Maintain access and communication with corridor businesses throughout construction 4- Turning/ped movement at the intersection of 49th & Wornall a. Intersection geometry and turning movements may require specific design attention. 5- Construction cannot start before August 1, 2026.
