The contractor is responsible for the preparation, cost, and submission of all reports, plans, and applications required to secure a permit to take water or register an environmental activity for dewatering operations which exceed 50,000 litres per day. The contractor must design temporary worksite isolation, diversion, and dewatering systems, providing detailed submissions for review. All materials and equipment must be managed to prevent contamination of the watercourse. Stockpiled materials are to be stabilized a minimum of 30 metres from the high-water mark, and erosion control measures must be implemented before work begins and maintained until stabilization is complete. Work in the water is restricted to specified dates. Disturbed areas must be restored and re-vegetated. No machinery may cross the watercourse, and the contractor must provide temporary protection to prevent debris from entering the watercourse. Additional measures and evaluations for sediment and erosion control are required, and an emergency spill kit must be on site at all times. The contractor is responsible for the safety, verification of dimensions, and protection of utilities, and must comply with all environmental, safety, and construction specifications and requirements, including those for materials, backfill, and concrete. The contractor must also provide updates and modifications to environmental and erosion control measures as necessary, and report any discrepancies or required adjustments for approval before commencing work. Road closure for construction is permissible, with provisions for access as required.
