https://www.trussvilletribune.com/2026/02/10/moody-council-approves-funds-for-new-storm-shelter/ Moody Council approves funds for new storm shelter February 10, 2026No comments By Nathan Prewett, For the Tribune MOODY, Ala. – If all goes well, Moody will have its third storm shelter at an estimated finish date in mid-April. ________________________________ Furnish all materials, labor, tools, and equipment, and perform the work of constructing a FEMA P-361/ICC-500 compliant storm shelter with a certified 89-person capacity. The shelter is to be above-ground, prefabricated, pre-manufactured from 1/4" steel plate material with a rounded roof, primed and painted tan (white optional). The project includes two handicap accessible, 6-point locking doors; side and center bench seating; LED primary and emergency lighting; electric forced air ventilation with guarded intake and exhaust; a dehumidifier with battery backup; Helical Piers installation; and an ADA compliant chemical toilet. Instructions to bidders: Bids must be made using the forms provided, properly executed with all items filled out. No changes or additions to the Bid Form are allowed. Unauthorized conditions or limitations may result in rejection. Late bids will not be considered and will be returned unopened. Each bid must be in a sealed envelope with the work title, bidder's name and address, and the date and time of bid opening. Only listed items on the bid form and quantities actually used will be paid. A certified check or bid bond of at least 5% of the total bid, not exceeding $10,000, must accompany each proposal. The successful bidder must provide a Performance Bond for 100% of the bid amount and obtain all required licenses and permits. Bidders must provide evidence of proper licensing under Alabama law.
