Site work for a development in Hawesville, Kentucky. Completed plans call for site work for a development.

Question Deadline 01/30/2026 All questions regarding the meaning or interpretation of the bidding documents shall be directed in writing to the purchasing officer. Unless otherwise specified in the Solicitation, questions received less than ten (10) calendar days prior to the date for receipt of bids may not be answered. All Procurement Questions Shall Be Directed To Buyer Of Record For This Project. The project will begin as an exploratory geotechnical investigation that includes digging two exploratory pits and drilling four exploratory borings. The pits will be dug at two surface expressions of subsidence to gather additional information necessary to determine if the subsidence is related to historic mining in the Hawesville Coal Seam. Four exploratory borings will be advanced in the general area to determine if mine voids exist and if there has been any collapse in the mine voids. Percussion drilling and air-hammer drills are not allowed on this project. Methane monitoring is the responsibility of the contractor, and if methane is encountered, the contractor must immediately implement a plan to secure the area. After the initial exploratory work, it will be determined whether the subsidence is mine-related or related to collapsing buried domestic tanks or karst geologic conditions at the site. If it is determined that AML eligible mining is associated with the subsidence events, soil and rock drilling will be required as shown in the plans, with location adjustments made as necessary. AML employees will utilize a downhole camera to verify current mine conditions and determine the extent of rock and shale fracturing from mine subsidence. Each hole will require approximately 400 gallons of water to flush after drilling is complete for downhole camera performance. The contractor should utilize a 400-500 gallon water buffalo to ensure adequate water is available and can be used to flush the hole within 10-15 minutes. AML staff may adjust proposed hole locations for grouting the coal seam. Six-inch plus diameter holes will be drilled to the Hawesville coal seam in the specified order, cased through soil with 6-inch diameter PVC pipe. Two grout mixes are specified: a stiffer mix for pillars around residences and a more flowable mix as determined by AML staff.
