Sealed competitive bids are invited for the resurfacing of various streets in the Town of Barrington. Proposals must be submitted in a sealed envelope, clearly marked "Roadway Resurfacing," and include a bid deposit equal to five percent (5%) of the amount of the bid, which may be provided as a certified check, bank treasurer's or cashier's check, or a bid bond from a responsible surety company licensed in the State of Rhode Island. The successful bidder is required to submit a Performance and Payment Bond in the amount of 100% of the contract value from a responsible surety company authorized in Rhode Island, within five working days of notice of award. Bids must be completed on forms furnished by the Town, fully filled in, and without unauthorized additions, conditions, or alterations. Each bidder is expected to visit the work site, fully acquaint themselves with existing conditions, and review all specifications. No oral interpretations of the specifications will be made; interpretations will be issued only by addendum. Alternative bids will not be considered unless specifically requested. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible and eligible bidder, as determined by the awarding authority, based on skill, ability, integrity, and relevant experience. The successful contractor must guarantee the work for one year from acceptance, repairing or replacing any defects in materials or workmanship. The Town reserves the right to reject any or all bids if deemed in the public interest. Work under this contract includes roadway improvements and resurfacing on the following streets within the Town of Barrington, Rhode Island: 1st Street Annawamscutt Rd Beaver Rd Carriage Trail Central Ave Circle Dr Great Rd Hazleton Rd Hickey Lane Kings Gate Rd Middle Rd Regal Pt Waverly Rd Zephyr Lane Work included will be all necessary to complete the improvements as noted in the contract documents and as directed by the Town. There shall be both pavement reclamation and/or cold planing of the existing roadways which shall be at the discretion of the Town. The Town reserves the right to decide if the streets will have the existing pavement reclaimed in-place or cold planed prior to the repaving. More specifically, work will include pavement reclamation, grading and compacting the gravel base, paving with 2 inch Hot Mix Asphalt, Class 9.5 on 2 inch Hot Mix Asphalt Class 12.5, or full width of roadway cold planed, tack coat, paving with 2 inch Hot Mix Asphalt Class 9.5, adjusting utility structures to grade, and all other incidentals required to complete the work to the satisfaction of the Town. All work under this Contract shall be completed as shown on the attached plans and details, and in accordance with the Rhode Island Standard Details. All work is to be done in accordance with the State of Rhode Island, Department of Transportation (RIDOT) Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, 2004 Edition, including all corrections, all issued compilation of Approved Specifications, and addendum to date (reference the RIDOT web site), and all General Provisions and Special Provisions contained in this contract document.
