Renovation of a clubhouse / community center in Savannah, Georgia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a clubhouse / community center.
The Board of Purchase reserves the right to reject any and all Proposals and to waive formalities. A pre-bid conference has been scheduled to be conducted. This meeting will allow contractors to discuss the specifications and resolve any questions and/or misunderstandings that may arise. You are invited to attend. Description of Work 4.2.1 The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to prepare and paint the gymnasium walls, ceilings, stairs, landings, and handrails in the WW Law Community Center gymnasium. All work shall be performed in accordance with manufacturer specifications, industry, and safety standards. 4.2.2 Technical Specifications 1. SITE PROTECTION 1.1. Protect all gymnasium flooring with appropriate drop cloths or plastic sheeting securely taped at edges. 1.2. Protect all basketball hoops, scoreboards, light fixtures, electrical outlets, switches, and other fixtures with plastic sheeting or masking materials. 1.3. Protect all windows, doors, and door frames with appropriate masking materials. 1.4. Protect all HVAC vents and returns. 1.5. Remove or protect any movable equipment as directed by the facility manager. 2. CEILING PREPARATION 2.1. Surface Repair: 2.2 Inspect ceiling for any structural damage, holes, or cracks 2.3 Repair as needed with appropriate patching compound 2.4 Sand patched areas smooth and flush with existing surface 2.5 Remove any loose or peeling paint Final Surface Preparation: 2.6 Clean all surfaces free of dust, dirt, grease, and debris 2.7 Wipe down entire ceiling with tack cloth or damp rag to remove all dust from remediation process 2.8 Ensure surface is clean, dry, and ready for primer application 3. WALL PREPARATION 3.1. Inspect walls for holes, cracks, gouges, or other surface defects. 3.2. Repair all defects with appropriate patching compound. 3.3. Sand all patched areas smooth and flush with existing surface. 3.4. Remove any loose or peeling paint. 3.5. Clean all surfaces free of dust, dirt, grease, and debris. 3.6. Caulk gaps between walls and trim, walls and ceiling, and other joints as needed. 3.6. Establish and mark horizontal break line at 10 feet above finished floor for two-tone paint application. 4. HANDRAIL PREPARATION 4.1. Inspect all handrails for rust, corrosion, loose paint, or surface defects. 4.2. Remove all loose, flaking, or peeling paint using wire brush, scraper, or sandpaper. 4.3. Sand metal handrails to remove rust and create proper surface profile for paint adhesion. 4.4. Clean all handrails thoroughly to remove dust, grease, oils, and debris. 4.5. Wipe down with appropriate solvent or degreaser as needed. 5. SEATING AREA, LANDINGS, AND STEPS FLOOR PREPARATION 5.1. Inspect all seating area floors for cracks, chips, holes, or surface defects. 5.2. Repair any damage with appropriate concrete patching compound or floor filler. 5.3. Sand repaired areas smooth and level with existing floor. 5.4. Remove all loose or peeling paint or coating. 5.5. Surface Preparation: Mechanically prepare or etch floor surface to ensure proper adhesion using one of the following methods: o Light scarification or sanding o Acid etching (if approved) o Power washing with TSP solution 5.6. Clean floors thoroughly to remove all dust, laitance, oils, grease, and contaminants. 5.6. Vacuum floor surface with industrial vacuum or shop vac to remove all dust and debris. 5.7. Allow floors to dry completely before priming (minimum 24 hours after cleaning). 6. DOOR PREPARATION 6.1. Inspect all doors and door frames for holes, dents, gouges, or surface defects. 6.2. Repair all defects with appropriate wood filler or patching compound. 6.3. Sand all repaired areas smooth and flush with existing surface. 6.4. Remove all loose or peeling paint. 6.5. Clean all door surfaces and frames free of dust, dirt, grease, and debris. 6.6. Remove door hardware where practical, or mask hardware that will remain in place. 6.6. Mask door glass and any adjacent surfaces not to be painted. The City of Savannah promotes equal opportunities for all vendors in city purchases.
