Site work for a civil project in Paintsville, Kentucky. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The project consists of furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals required to remove three (3) existing flap gates and install three (3) new self-contained, non-rising stem sluice gates within existing sanitary sewer manholes located along the West Paintsville Floodwall, as shown on the Contract Drawings. All bids shall be accompanied by a Bid Bond of not less than 5% of the total bid. A 100% Performance Bond and Payment Bond shall be required of the successful Bidder. All bonding and insurance requirements are contained in the Instructions to Bidders and/or the General and Supplementary Conditions of the Contract. Submission of a bid shall be construed as confirmation that the bidder has visited the site and is satisfied to the extent of work required. No changes to the contract will be considered based on misunderstandings of the scope of the work if such misunderstandings could have been addressed by a site visit. Any bid received later than the time specified for receipt of bids or any bid which is not submitted in the proper form, shall not be considered. Paintsville Utilities reserves the right to reject any and all bids or to waive any formalities in the bidding. Bids received after the scheduled closing time of the receipt of bids will be returned unopened to the bidders. No bid may be withdrawn for a period of 30 days after the opening of bids without consent of Paintsville Utilities. The work under this Contract consists of sluice gate replacement at existing sanitary sewer manholes, including MH 2-2, MH 1-2, MH 1-4. The Contractor shall remove existing flap gates and furnish and install new 8-inch by 8- inch self-contained, non-rising stem sluice gates, complete with all required frames, adapters, stems, operating nuts, guides, fasteners, and appurtenances, as shown on the Contract Drawings. All work shall be performed in strict accordance with: Contract Drawings, Project Specifications, USACE Section 35 20 16.54 - Slide Gates and Actuators. The Contractor shall be responsible for all incidental work necessary for a complete and functional installation, including testing, adjustments, and site restoration. The extent and location of existing utilities is unknown. Any underground utilities shown on the plan sheets is taken from the best available information and is not guaranteed. The OWNER and the ENGINEER neither warrant nor guarantees this information. It shall be the Contractor's sole responsibility to locate existing utilities, make appropriate arrangements regarding relocation of existing utilities, either temporary or permanent, maintain the utility service throughout the construction period, and have final relocations performed at the end of the construction period. The Contractor shall notify affected utility owners, record locations of utilities on record drawings, hire specialty contractors, etc. as necessary. All utility relocation work shall be conducted with the full knowledge and written consent of the Engineer and the utility owners involved. The Contractor shall comply with all applicable Federal, State and Local utility ordinances. The Contractor shall bear sole and full responsibility for loss of project time arising from poor relocation coordination and from claims of damage relating to disruption of utility service. The Owner will not extend the Contract time for delays resulting from utility relocations. The Contractor shall furnish all necessary personnel and equipment to provide all customary construction surveys including, but not limited to, the following: A) Establish right-of-way and construction easement limits. B) Structure staking The Contractor's staking (survey) party shall be under the general supervision of an Engineer and a Land Surveyor registered in the State of Kentucky. It shall be understood that supervision of the construction staking party is solely the responsibility of the Contractor and any errors and inaccuracies resulting from the operations of the construction staking party shall be corrected at NO cost to the Owner.
