The purpose is to identify and engage a qualified team of consultants with expertise in transit facility design and urban space design to lead the evaluation and revitalization of the Government Square transit center in downtown Cincinnati. The work includes two main tasks: 1) Architectural and engineering tasks focused on evaluating the existing facility and creating design concepts to improve the center for transit customers, operations, public safety, and the non-riding public, without physically expanding the facility beyond its current footprint; 2) Urban space design tasks to evaluate and improve how the center fits within and enhances the urban area immediately adjacent to it, with aims to promote public safety and livability. The consultant must evaluate the current facility and surrounding area, engage stakeholders, and develop comprehensive design plans that improve efficiency, comfort, accessibility, safety, walkability, and multimodal connections, incorporating sustainable practices and principles of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED). The goal is to improve the area's walkability and safety, creating an attractive, welcoming, livable, and safe downtown environment, and providing improved pedestrian and cyclist access to businesses, government services, restaurants, and performing arts events.
