Renovation of a swimming pool in Midland, Michigan. Completed plans call for the renovation of a swimming pool.
The scope of work includes pool resurfacing at H. H. Dow High School. For the base bid, Midland Public Schools will drain the pool and remove the lane dividers. The contractor will properly remove and reinstall accessibility equipment such as chair lifts, ladders, and rails, and install all materials and workmanship per manufacturer's specifications. All drains and inlets must be covered to prevent debris from entering the pool piping during the work. The contractor is responsible for removal and disposal of all construction debris. Preparation involves sawing and chipping around all fittings, lights, and lane line tile, v-cutting cracks to structural soundness and repairing with epoxy or approved sealer, repairing any hollow or damaged pool shell areas, applying Bond Kote adhesive, installing new Marcite plaster with a smooth uniform finish to industry standards, and repairing lane marker tiles as closely matched as possible. The new pool surface must be fully cured as specified before refilling. The contractor must provide a 2-year written warranty against plaster delamination, covering both material and labor, and respond to warranty claims within 24 hours. The alternate bid consists of removing all existing marcite, lane markers, and replacing them with new marcite surfaces and tiled lane markers. Work includes mobilization, removal of marcite surfaces, dust removal, bond coat application, protection of tiles and appurtenances, installation of new marcite, sealing all edges, installation of existing lane markers and lane targets, leak testing, and cleanup. Contractor will repair any concrete damage found after removal, submit a change order after discussion for time and materials, and must use prevailing wage rates. Contractors must have at least five years of experience in similar work. All materials and construction are guaranteed free from defects in materials or workmanship for two years from completion.
