Renovation of an educational facility in Montreal, Quebec. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
Conversion of six buildings on the current site of the Royal Victoria Hospital into a university campus. According to the proposed version of the project, the buildings of the former Royal Victoria Hospital would be transformed into modern student residences with 1,150 beds. The scope of work will include major restauration of the site buildings. Three of them, heritage buildings intended to house the vast majority of the student residences, are now in an advanced state of disrepair, requiring extensive structural, architectural, and mechanical interventions. Note. According to the study results the cost of the construction program may as high as $845 million. TIMELINE: The firm CDPQ Infra has completed a final feasibility analysis concerning the redevelopment of the former Royal Victoria Hospital into a campus of the Montreal. Despite the costs being deemed too high, the study report confirms to the SQI that the site development has an important potential and requires pursue studies to obtain new data. Owner expects to proceed to further consultations in the coming months, including consultations with the City of Montreal.
