Renovation of a military facility in Mount Upton, New York. Completed plans call for the renovation of a military facility.
Heaters for the active cooled beam screen cryo interface including the fabrication of forty heaters and forty corresponding heater housings designed to operate in a liquid helium environment with a mass flow of 2.5 g/s, an inlet temperature of 4.7 K, and a pressure of 3.5 bar. The heaters will be constructed to meet ASME B31.3 process-piping pressure boundary requirements with a maximum allowable working pressure of 18.6 atm at 322 K, a minimum design metal temperature of 4 K at 18.6 atm, and a maximum allowable external working pressure of -1 atm at 322 K. Each heater will be 260 mm long with a 57 mm cold length, an outer diameter of 8 mm, minimal pressure drop, a 500-watt rating, a 100-ohm resistive heating element, and an integrated temperature sensor. The heater housing will be 258 mm long with an outer diameter of 12.7 mm and an inner diameter of 8 mm, and will include an 18 mm open-end section with a 15.2 mm outer diameter and 13.2 mm inner diameter. A 230 mm portion of each housing will contain fifteen spines spaced 30 degrees apart, each spine section having a 12.6 mm outer diameter and a 9.49 mm inner diameter. The vendor will provide approval drawings prior to fabrication, supply all heaters and housings as completed assemblies, and furnish finishing certificates for all units. Issues identified by the BNL Technical Representative will be addressed using vendor-provided labor, parts, tools, equipment, and supplies, with all parts being new.
