Ann Arbor's parks department has unveiled a design concept for a new bridge crossing the Huron River from West Huron River Drive into the Barton Nature Area. The potentially $5 million project would replace the existing 1991 wooden bridge with a new concrete-deck structure featuring a wider 14-foot clear pedestrian and cyclist path. The bridge is part of the Washtenaw County Border-to-Border Trail system and is designed by OHM Advisors. Design work is expected to continue through 2026, with construction planned for fall 2027 through spring 2028.
