Geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering services include providing architect-engineer support for planning, design, investigations, analyses, reporting, and construction-phase services for projects within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Philadelphia District, with occasional work across the North Atlantic Division. Task order work may include geotechnical design of foundations, embankments, slopes, retaining structures, sheet pile structures, waterfront construction, pavements, bank protection, ground improvement, dewatering, site drainage, and preparation of related drawings and specifications. Geoenvironmental design may include remediation systems for hazardous, toxic, and radioactive waste sites involving groundwater, soil, soil vapor, and air treatment systems. Work may also involve Phase I site assessments, remedial and facility investigations, feasibility studies, geophysical and groundwater investigations, sampling and analysis of soil, groundwater, air, and surface water, preparation of risk assessments and conceptual site models, and performance of bench- and pilot-scale remediation studies. Additional services include subsurface explorations using drilling, coring, sampling, test pits, cone-penetrometer testing, and geophysical methods on land or water; installation and monitoring of piezometers, groundwater monitoring wells, inclinometers, and pressure transducers; soil and material testing; preparation of Quality Assurance Project Plans and Health and Safety Plans; construction-phase engineering support; and professional, quality control, and miscellaneous technical services supporting studies, design, and construction.
