Site work for a playground / park / athletic field in Newbury, Vermont. Completed plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field.

Construction of a 2,223-foot all-persons' accessible trail including boardwalks, a viewing platform, and two accessible parking spaces, all conforming to US Forest Service Trail Accessibility Guidelines. The project includes 2,150 feet of trail tread that is 5.25 feet wide and 6 inches deep, built over 4 oz. non-woven geotextile. Approximately 80 feet of elevated trail will be constructed as a pipe & pile black locust boardwalk with curbing, and there will be an 8-foot by 8-foot pipe pile supported black locust brook viewing platform with curbing. o 1,995 feet of trail tread will be a 5.25 foot wide tread and 151 feet of 4.25 foot wide tread using 3/8 to 1/2 inch minus crush rock (surfacing depth 6-inch) compacted over 4 oz. non-woven geotextile. o 32 feet of elevated trail will be 3-foot wide pipe pile black locust boardwalk with curbing and 45 feet of 5 foot wide pipe pile black locust boardwalk with curbing (connection to bridge built by others). o 8 foot x 8 foot pipe pile supported black locust brook viewing platform with curbing. o Two accessible parking spaces. Construction must be completed no later than October 31, 2026. Pending wetlands permit and archaeological testing. Questions and RSVP to tuckertownforest@gmail.com or call 802-505-5279. The ground will be excavated to accommodate a tread 5.25 foot - 4.25 foot (as specified in the trail plan) wide by 6 inches with minimal environmental impact. Some hole filling and tread grade adjustments will require crushed stone below 4-ounce non-woven geotextile. Tread preparation Excavate to 6-inch depth. Smooth mineral soil on tread, flatten/compact any stone in tread, and apply 4 oz. non-woven Geotextile. Surfacing application Installation of 3- 4 inches of surfacing evenly across the specified width of the trail tread and compact. Install second layer of 3-4 inches of surfacing and compact. Ensure that the tread has an out slope of 3 to 5 percent (this works out to be a 1.8 inch to 3-inch drop in 5 feet). Applied surfacing must be compacted using an 8x8 hand tamper or vibratory plate compactor. Apply cribbing stones where needed. At four points along the trail, bump-outs will be necessary for later installation of benches (to be built by others). Final covering of exposed soil with on-site material such as leaf litter and excess duff. Boardwalks and Platform Pipe and pile construction of 3' X 32 linear feet black locust boardwalk. Pipe and pile construction of 3' X 45 linear feet of black locust boardwalk. Pipe and pile construction of 8' x 8' viewing platform with curbing.
