320 West Warren Road Hunt Valley Md 21030 The Maryland State Highway Administration's District - 4 Maintenance Complex located at 320 West Warren Road 21030 Is soliciting a bid for a Contractor to remove / dispose of the existing 38`. 6" cantilever HDG gate and furnish and install a new 38.6" cantilevering aluminum gate including an aluminum internal upper and lower dual trolley system that serve a (26 ft) opening, And a new gate controller. The location of the project is at the Administration's District - 4 maintenance Complex front entrance. Vendors should have a minimum of 5 years' experience in providing similar services. All work shall be complete within 30 calendar days from the NTP. The successful contractor shall furnish all supervision, labor, tools, shoring, transportation, equipment, and materials necessary to perform all work in accordance with this specification and scope of work in the manner called for, and to the satisfaction of the State Highway Administration Office of Maintenance (OOM). Vendor is to use best practices established in the construction industry to perform this work. All work to be done in a safe manner, adhering to OSHA, MOSH, codes/regulations and standards. Vendor shall be licensed to perform work in the State of Maryland. Gate: o The Contractor shall furnish and install one (38.6" in length) Aluminum Cantilever Slide Gate with 38'6" length x 5`5" in Hight of fencing that serve a (26 ft') opening. o Specification for the materials and construction requirements for chain link cantilever slide gates with enclosed aluminum track and hardware manufactured to comply with ASTM F1184, ASTM F-2200, and Underwriter's Laboratory UL-325 safety standards. o The gate frame and support members shall be manufactured with the same aluminum material, alloy and temper 6061-T6 (ASTM 1184). o The fabricate chain link cantilever slide gates shall be in accordance with ASTM F-1184, Type II, Class 2, using 2-inch square aluminum outside vertical members (1.04 lb/ft). Members are welded together with a continuous top track (2.70 lb/ft) and bottom rail to form a rigid one-piece frame. Vertical interior support uprights shall be positioned equally throughout the frame structure. o The vertical interior support uprights will be 2-inch square aluminum tubing weighing (1.04 lb/ft) welded in place to form a ridged one-piece unit o The bottom rail shall be a continuous one-piece 3 3/8-inch by 2 3/8-inch one-piece aluminum extrusion weighing (2.70 lb/ft). The top track shall consist of dual 6-inch by 2 3/4 -inch one-piece aluminum extrusion weighing (5.30 lb./ft); top track shall withstand a 2,000 lb. reaction load. o The cantilever overhang will be 40% or greater for any given opening size. o There shall be two inner and two outer truck assemblies (secured to the guideposts) which operate inside the top track. They shall be swiveling type zinc die cast with 4 sealed and lubricated ball bearing rollers (2" dia., 9/16" width) and two side rollers per gate (front and back and upper and lower) to assure alignment in the top track. o Chain link fabric shall be installed over the entire gate length (UL-325) which will create a universal design (gate shall be used for right- or left-hand applications). Fabric will be attached securely with tension bars that are attached on either frame end by tension bands. o High tensile wires provide additional fabric support across the top and bottom of the gate structure. o Diagonal bracing shall be 1 1/4 -inch square aluminum tubing weighing (0.66 lb/ft) welded in place to the uprights to form a rigid bracing system that does not require field adjustment. o Gate brackets, hangers, latch, and keepers shall be (HDG) galvanized steel. There shall be a standard latch provided to allow the gates to be locked from either side (inside or outside). o Install gate plumb on existing outer post and furnish and install two inner 6" galvanize post and provide caps for each post; the contractor shall verify that the existing mounting post are level and secure for the full opening size making sure they move free of obstructions. Adjust hardware for smooth operation. Note that the contractor may need to verify that the existing trench that the cantilever gate slides into is clear and does not obstruct the new cantilever gate operation. o The contractor shall make the necessary adjustments to the existing posts, braces, brackets and fencing material may be required to realign the gate; the cantilever slide gates must comply with the performance deflection criteria listed in ASTM F1184. The gates must be designed to open or close with the assistance of the rollers by applying an initial pull force no greater than 30 lbs. and shall meet evenly in the middle when closed. o The rolling assemblies must be designed to handle the forces based on the gate size, opening and height. o Gate Operator: o The contractor shall remove and dispose of the existing cate controller/ furnish and install new Lift master model INSL24Ul MC (or approved equal) gate operator 3 Phase 480-volt 1H/P 9.3 Amp gate operator with the LB. Max Force of 2200LB. o The contractor shall furnish and install one photocell eye including reflector. o The contractor shall furnish and install Lift Master wireless edge guards. o The Gate shall be tied into the existing exiting ground loop. o The security card reader system will be connected to the gate operator by the others. o The contractor shall remove and dispose of the existing cate controller/ furnish and install new Lift master model INSL24Ul MC (or approved equal) gate operator 3 Phase 480-volt 1H/P 9.3 Amp gate operator with the LB. Max Force of 2200LB. The contractor shall furnish and install one photocell eye including reflector. o The contractor shall furnish and install Lift Master wireless edge guards. o The Gate shall be tied into the existing exiting ground loop. o The security card reader system will be connected to the gate operator by the others. Replacement of the automated front gate and controller at the District 4 Office. Bidders must submit their bids on emma.maryland.gov under the designated solicitation number. Prior registration on the submission site is recommended. Bidders are instructed to call to schedule a site visit and to contact the Procurement Officer via email at least three days before the bid opening if they wish to attend the site visit. All technical questions should be directed to the specified contact in the Office of Maintenance Facility Quality Control Division. Multiple or alternate bids will not be accepted. The contract will be awarded using a competitive sealed bidding method and will be a fixed price contract with a specified end date. There are no required subcontracting goals for Minority Business Enterprises (MBE), Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE), or Veteran-Owned Small Business Enterprises (VSBE).
