Sealed bids will be received for the 3rd Place Roadway Improvements in the City of Plainfield, Union County, New Jersey. Bid forms, contracts, and specifications are available from Remington & Vernick Engineers. Bids must be submitted on the forms prepared by Remington and Vernick Engineers, in the manner designated and required by the specifications, enclosed in sealed envelopes bearing the name and address of the bidder, and reference to the particular work bid upon. Each bid must be accompanied by a certified check, cashier's check, or bid bond in an amount not less than ten percent (10%) but not in excess of $20,000. Bids must also include a certificate letter from a surety company stating it will provide the completion bond. The contract award is subject to the City of Plainfield providing necessary funds and securing required permits. Bidders must comply with the requirements of applicable New Jersey statutes and acts regarding affirmative action, prevailing wage, public works contractor registration, disclosure of stockholders, and business registration for both the bidder and any subcontractors. Opportunities for training and employment should be given to lower-income residents of the project area, and contracts should, when possible, be awarded to business concerns owned by area residents.
