Site work and paving for a road / highway in Elburn, Illinois. Working plans call for site work for a road / highway.
The developer Shodeen has proposed an additional section of the Elburn Station subdivision that includes creating a connection from one of its east-west streets to Stillmeadows Lane in the unincorporated Stillmeadows subdivision. The Elburn Planning Commission recommended approval, while some Stillmeadows residents and the Blackberry Township Highway Commissioner opposed the connection due to road conditions, traffic concerns and the lack of sidewalks and streetlights. The Elburn and Countryside Fire District and Elburn Police Department supported the connection for safety access. The Village Board determined it cannot mandate a connection outside village limits, leaving options to build a stub or a curved road. Shodeen agreed to modify plans to create the curved road, with formal review scheduled. As of March 24, 2026, this project is in the permitting staged and construction is expected to begin on May 1, 2026. A general contractor has been identified. Specific trades needed for sewer, water, roadway, mass excavation and paving.
