Retrofit project to provide new Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system to serve classrooms on the east side of the existing high school. The project also includes ceiling replacement, finish upgrades and some electrical upgrades in the retrofit area. Bids will be received for a Single Prime Contract. All bids shall be in accordance with the Contract Documents. Bids must be filed on forms included in the Project Manual, furnished by the Engineer, sealed and plainly marked. Any alteration of the bid form may be cause for rejection. Each bid shall be accompanied by a deposit of money, Certified Check, Cashier's Check, Credit Union Certified Share Draft, or a Bid Bond in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the amount of the Bid. This project is tax exempt. Preference will be given to products and provisions produced within the State of Iowa, and resident bidders shall be allowed preference as required by Iowa statutes. Failure to submit a complete Bidder Status Form may result in rejection. The successful Bidder will be required to furnish a Performance Bond and Material and Labor Payment Bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract Sum. Bids shall remain in effect for a period of thirty (30) days. The Board reserves the right to reject any or all bids, re-advertise for all bids, and waive any or all formalities in the best interest of the Emmetsburg Community School District. Monthly estimates will be paid to the Contractor as the work progresses in amounts equal to ninety-seven percent (97%) of the Contract value of the work completed during the preceding month. Final payment of the three percent (3%) retainage will be made thirty (30) days after final acceptance if no claims are on file and after receipt of satisfactory evidence that all claims have been paid in full.
