Site work for a water / sewer project in Kansas City, Kansas. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The contractor shall construct four closure structures--two stoplog structures and two sandbag structures--on both sides of two Union Pacific Railroad bridges spanning the Armourdale and Central Industrial District levee units. Work includes building new floodwalls north and south of the closure structures and tying them into existing floodwalls on the Armourdale side, with closure structures on the CID side connecting to earthen levees. All stoplogs and associated components must be fabricated for the project, and a full test-fit across Mainline Track Nos. 1 and 2 is required once construction is complete. Construction activities include placement of geotextile, core and bedding stone, and armor stone for the breakwater-style structures, along with the installation of stoplog storage structures for each levee unit. Work will require close coordination with Union Pacific Railroad, including approval of construction submittals, phasing and shoring plans, and securing temporary track outages. Flagging operations are required for all work within 25 feet of railroad tracks or when equipment could foul the track.
