This is a service / maintenance or supply contract in Williamsburg, Kentucky. Contact the soliciting agency for additional information.

Mow and trim the lawn area of the Rest Area grounds consisting of approximately nine acres per cycle, with an estimated 30 cycles for the season. In addition, mow Laurel County I-75 Truck Rest Haven North and South bound, containing two acres combined. Use commercial grade turf type mowing equipment no less than 48" and no more than 72" in width. A small push type mower may be used for trimming. Farm tractors with rotary finish mowers are not allowed. Mow grass to a minimum height of three inches. Correct any uneven or streaked mowing immediately. The Department will direct the time and place for mowing. Remove or disperse grass clippings if a cycle is delayed and excess clippings accumulate. Perform trimming operations after each mowing cycle, including around mulched areas, trees, picnic table pads, trash containers, curbs, sign posts, and other obstacles. Blow or sweep clippings off concrete surfaces after trimming. Use a hand-held string trimmer or power edger for trimming along concrete edges. Herbicides are not to be used to control growth along sidewalks or curbs, except for treating vegetation in cracks, following specified procedures. Provide mulch material consisting of #1 shredded hardwood aged at least six months, free of foreign materials, preservatives, and weed seed. Remove existing weeds in mulched areas before mulching. Apply mulch uniformly around plantings and trees to a depth of four inches and a minimum distance of thirty-six inches from the trunk or stem. Mulch around individual trees must have a "doughnut" shape. The Department must approve mulch before use and will direct the location and timing. The approximate mulched area is 3,000 square feet. The Department determines the actual area. Apply pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicides to landscape plantings and beds as specified. Use approved products and apply at recommended label rates. Department will direct time, place, and approve all herbicide materials. Post-emergent herbicides are to be used only around trees, not in beds. Provide certified applicators for these duties. Provide and apply an insecticide to all individual landscape plantings, beds, and trees to prevent insect damage. Use only approved products applied at rates recommended for the targeted pests. Department will approve materials and direct application locations and timing. Certified applicators are required. Trim herbaceous vegetation (such as "Day Lily" beds) to reduce height, remove dead stems after blooming, and remove dead foliage before mulching. Department directs location and timing of trimming. The approximate area is 1,000 square feet. Prune individual and mass plantings of shrubs as required, shortening branches as needed for proper plant balance. Remove dead, broken, diseased, or interfering branches with appropriate cuts. Mechanically shearing must preserve plant health. Department directs location and timing. Approximately ten shrubs individually and 1,000 square feet of mass plantings are included. Prune trees as required to maintain good balance and form, removing dead, broken, diseased, or interfering branches with correct cuts. Preserve the natural character and do not under-trim or head-back. Evergreens: remove only broken or damaged branches. Department directs location and timing. Approximately fifteen trees. Remove dead trees and shrubs up to thirty-five feet in height. Dispose of biomass according to all relevant regulations. Department directs location and timing. Approximately five removals. Fertilize landscape beds, trees, shrubs, and turf grass with specified commercial grade products at Department-approved rates. Department will approve all materials, direct timing and location, and ensure applicator certification. Leaf removal from turf areas, weeding of planting beds, and seeding of grasses, flowers, and other grounds work are included as specified. Department directs all timing and location details, provides all seed and necessary materials, and approves all equipment and practices. Certain tasks require bi-weekly or seasonal execution.
