The University of California, Los Angeles, requests written responses to a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to select Executive Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Engineers to work with the University's internal staff architects on various projects managed by UCLA Facilities Management. The Executive MEP Engineers will assist internal Executive Architects on an as-needed basis, with pre-design MEP assessments, existing building system investigations, concept design, schematic design, design development, construction documents, bidding, and construction administration services for renovation, alteration, deferred maintenance, and smart buildings and labs program projects. Projects are primarily located on the UCLA main campus and may also be at UCLA-owned off-campus properties, under the jurisdiction of the Campus Building Official and Campus Fire Marshal. UCLA will award up to four Executive MEP Engineer agreements, assigning the awarded firms to projects based on qualifications, project type, and experience. Construction costs for projects have not yet been determined and will be defined by each project's scope and phasing requirements, with an anticipated cost range of $50,000 to $10M per individual project. The University may execute the scope of work through several phased, incremental projects. Selection and appointment are contingent upon approval by the UC Board of Regents or their delegated authority. The University reserves the right to defer negotiations for services beyond pre-design studies until completion of the pre-design phase. Responses to the RFQ must be submitted as described in the packet, and firms may be required to show evidence of an Equal Employment Opportunity policy.
