Plans call for a full restoration of the historic 1883 Bastrop County Courthouse, including exterior masonry repairs, window rehabilitation, roof replacement, structural stabilization, and upgrades to mechanical, electrical, and life-safety systems. The project also includes interior renovations designed to enhance functionality and support modern courthouse operations. This project is part of the Texas Historic Courthouse Preservation Program. The 89th Texas Legislature allocated $100 million to the program for the 2026–27 biennium. As of May 14, 2026, the roof repair project is under construction with Waco Construction. The next piece of this project to advertise for bids is HVAC. Details regarding the construction schedule and projected completion dates also remain undisclosed. The restoration is expected to unfold over multiple years, with phased work anticipated through 2028.
