Work consists of removing the existing boiler system in Building 221 and installing a new two-boiler redundant system, including replacement of all hydronic piping within the mechanical room, associated equipment, insulation, and demolition and replacement of the existing flue to ensure compatibility with the new boilers. Work includes disconnecting existing gas piping, power, and control wiring and installing new or replacement components, as well as modifying the concrete pad to accommodate the new boilers. Temporary heating must be provided to maintain a minimum indoor temperature of 69 degrees Fahrenheit for occupant comfort and building protection during the changeover, including supplying fuel, operating the heating system as needed, and monitoring its operation daily to ensure proper performance and safety.
