Site work for a mixed-use development in Oakland, California. Completed plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field.
The project consists of modernizing a school playground at Prescott Elementary School. The scope includes the removal of worn play structures, basketball hoops, planters, and select asphalt areas. Additional work involves removal of an existing portable classroom to create more play space, installation of new nature and garden spaces with soil removal and new irrigation and drainage systems. New play structures will be installed with new perimeter curbing and playground surfacing. Other elements include seal coating over new murals, seal coating of existing pavement, and installation of new trees with supporting irrigation systems. Furnishing and installation of new play structure, multi-sport courts, and turf field are by others. Work must follow strict safety standards and coordination with the district. Bids must be sealed and filed at the designated location before the specified time. Bidders must attend the mandatory pre-bid site visit to qualify. Bids must include a bid bond, cashier's check, or certified check for at least ten percent of the base bid. The successful bidder will be required to provide payment and performance bonds, each for one hundred percent of the contract sum. Only contractors currently licensed in California (A or B license) and registered for public works can submit bids. The contract time is sixty calendar days, with liquidated damages for delay. All contractors must comply with prevailing wage requirements and Department of Industrial Relations monitoring.
