Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Conceptual plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.
This line item will repair the five bridges located inside the Roger Williams Park. All five bridges are historic, and provide access to the recreational areas inside the park and zoo. Bridges #885 and 886 require historic major rehabilitation, superstructure and/or total bridge replacement. Bridges #887, 888, and 889 require historic minor rehabilitation County : Providence As of July 16, 2026, the project is in Conceptual status. Anticipated letting year is 2029. RIDOT- Roger Williams Park Zoo Bridges *Project information has been obtained through a public state transportation improvement plan (STIP). A STIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the STIP often evolves based on funding availability.
