This line item is deploying 97 nature-based stormwater treatment units across all five counties of the State. 89 STUs will be deployed within the existing RIDOT right of way. RIDOT will also partner with the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council, Save Sand Pond, the City of East Providence, the City of Warwick and private landowners to install 8 additional STUs. This project received a $26 million dollar PROTECT Grant in 2024. County : Washington County As of March 03, 2026, the project is in conceptual status Anticipated letting date is 2028. RIDOT- Nature-Based Statewide Stormwater *Project information has been obtained through a public state transportation improvement plan (STIP). A STIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the STIP often evolves based on funding availability.
