a. The Project is located in Carbon County, within the Shirley Basin. b. The Contractor, its employees, and its subcontractors shall be aware that the Project areas are located in the vicinity of historic uranium spoil piles. The Work includes, but is not limited to, grading an access road; grading and constructing a low-permeability soil barrier repository; replacing and relocating an existing waterline; constructing a low-water crossing; relocating and disposing of fencing; installing cattle guards and culverts; grading staging areas; and stabilizing soils through vegetation and polymer applications. The following hazards are inherent to the Project area: 1) Radioactive soils may exist within the Project area and will be monitored during the Work by the Engineer. 2) Debris from historical reclamation activities may be encountered during excavation and may have been previously buried onsite. 3) Petrified wood may be encountered during construction and shall be properly handled and managed at the direction of the Engineer. The estimated cost of the Work is: $3.7 to 4.7 million. Notice of Call for Bids is hereby given by the State of Wyoming, Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Abandoned Mine Land Division (AML), Cheyenne, Wyoming, for a general contract that will reclaim hazards and environmental degradation associated with historical open pit uranium mining. The work site is in Carbon County, WY and designated as AML Project 86, Shirley Basin Phase 1, Access Road and Repository. The work on this project is anticipated to begin in July of 2026.
