The City of Red Deer has over 13,000 streetlight poles, many of which are at or beyond their life expectancy and require replacement. The objective of the Streetlight Infrastructure Replacement Program is to address aging infrastructure and update lighting and electrical systems to meet modern code and the Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1 as needed. The scope of work includes, but is not limited to: full construction replacement of bases, poles, light fixtures, trenching, directional drilling, wiring and cables, conduit, duct work, backfill, and all other components needed to replace existing streetlight infrastructure. It also includes installation of new power distribution cabinets (PDC) between utility distribution and streetlight electric work. Locations for full construction replacement in the 2026 construction season include Warwick Drive, Wiltshire Boulevard, Wiltshire Place, Welton Crescent, Westgate Avenue (North of 43rd Street), Wong Avenue (North of 43rd Street), Salisbury Avenue, and Stewart Street. All materials and services supplied must meet quality standards and fulfill their intended function.
