Construction of improvements to the walking path and installation of benches and various improvements Question Deadline 03/20/2026 at 12:00 PM ET Online Q&A Yes Project Type Bid Response Types Line Items Type of Award Lump Sum The City of Salisbury is requesting bids from qualified contractors to provide all labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals to furnish and install exercise equipment, benches and a walking trail at specified locations at the Lake Street Park and Playground facility. This project is located at 710 Lake Street in Salisbury, MD The City of Salisbury, MD is accepting bids for the installation of a fitness trail around the perimeter of Lake Street Park. The trail shall be approximately eight feet in width and 2,100 feet in length. Some areas of the trail may be less than eight feet wide due to existing ground features, field adjustments may be required with no area being less than six feet in width. The improvements will consist of eight exercise stations and eight benches. The City will mark the location of the fitness trail, exercise stations and benches. All exercise station equipment and benches to be installed per manufacture's recommendations and under the supervision of a certified recreation equipment installer. The trail and equipment should be ADA compliant. Technical Specifications: Fitness Trail - Trail to be 8' in width with bump outs at locations identified by the City for exercise stations and benches. Bump outs to be sized per manufacture's recommendations for the type of equipment being installed. 1. Excavate: Dig out path area to a depth of 6 - 8 inches for solid base. 2. Sub-Base: Add +/- 3-4 inches of crusher run gravel and thoroughly compact. 3. Install Weed Barrier: Lay landscape fabric to prevent weeds, etc. from growing through the gravel. 4. Install Gravel Top Dressing: Spread +/- 3-4 inches of crusher run gravel and thoroughly compact. 5. Final Compaction: Fill and level surface as necessary and compact to create a firm, level, and comfortable walking surface. 6. Edging: Installation of edging to maintain trail in place will be determined by the City prior to bid due date. If edging is required, it shall be Colmet, Permaloc, Ryerson or approved equal, 4 - 6 inched in height and level with trail. Provide this item as an alternate add on. Fitness Trail Add Alternate - Bisect park north to south with an additional trail starting at north park entrance adjacent to concession stand. Follow service road south to intersect with the trail at southern border of park. The trail in this location shall be approximately eight feet in width and 250 feet in length. Installation of this trail will mirror the installation detailed for the Fitness trail above. Exercise Station Bump Outs - Bump outs to be sized per manufacture's recommendations for the type of equipment being installed. Bump outs to be set back as needed to prevent interference between users of the trail and the exercise station. Connection between the trail and exercise area to be the same as the trail. 1. Excavate: Dig out path area to a depth of 8 - 10 inches for solid base. 2. Sub-Base: Add +/- 4-5 inches of crusher run gravel and thoroughly compact. 3. Install Weed Barrier: Lay landscape fabric to prevent weeds, etc. from growing through the gravel. 4. Install Gravel Top Dressing: Spread +/- 4-5 inches of crusher run gravel and thoroughly compact. 5. Final Compaction: Fill and level surface as necessary and compact to create a firm and level surface for exercise area. 6. Edging: Installation of edging to maintain trail in place will be determined by the City prior to bid due date. If edging is required, it shall be Colmet, Permaloc, Ryerson or approved equal, 4 - 6 inched in height and level with trail. Provide this item as an alternate add on. Exercise Equipment - Equipment suggested are generally available from a variety of manufacturers such as PLAYWORLD, Landscape Structures, Burke, Kompan, etc. The following items are suggested types of equipment for the eight workout stations: 1. The Twister - PLAYWORLD model no. ZZXX0487 or approved equal Step on to the disk, hold on to the bar, and twist torso from side to side Stretches the lower back and your oblique muscles 2. Recumbent Bike - PLAYWORLD model no. ZZXX0488 or approved equal Ergonomically friendly for lower back Natural reclining position targets muscles like glutes for better results 3. Shoulder Slide - PLAYWORLD model no. ZZXX0492 or approved equal Step into the "U", hold a slider in each hand and slide from sides to front Range of motion depends on where you stand Turn around to work the back muscles 4. Arm & Shoulder Circles - PLAYWORLD model no. ZZXX0489 or approved equal Use the handles on the disks to turn them Rotate in or outwards to work the muscles in your shoulders and upper back 5. Cross Trainer - Kompan model no. FSW23901 or approved equal Cross Trainer incorporates both upper and lower body movement. Provides comfortable exercise that's easy on the joints. Workload is adjustable with 10 resistance levels, controlled by a handle reachable from the standing position. The smooth magnetic brake system caters to all training intensities, suitable for rehabilitation or athletic conditioning. It also features a phone holder for multimedia entertainment during workouts. 6. Sit-up Bench - Kompan model no. FSW203 or approved equal Bench provides training for the core and lower back muscles by doing exercises such as leg lifts and sit ups. Easy grips are created to ensure the exercise is done correctly. 7. Balance Beam - Kompan model no. FSW215 or approved equal Balancing should always be a part of a fitness course. The balance beam is divided into three sections with increasing degrees of difficulty. The surface of the Balance Beam is made from Ekogrip(R) panels with a top-layer of thermoplastic rubber, this has a non-skid effect for comfortable and safe training in all-weather circumstances. 8. Free Runner - Kompan model no. FSW242 or approved equal Free Runner is used to warm-up, for coordination, and mobility. Easy to use and doesn't require any skills or settings. Low-impact exercise for legs and hip area. Other pieces of equipment may be suggested as alternates. Bench Bump Outs - Bench locations to be set back as needed to prevent interference with users of the trail and have the same base requirements as the trail and connection to the trail. 1. Excavate: Dig out path area to a depth of 6 - 8 inches for solid base. 2. Sub-Base: Add +/- 3-4 inches of crusher run gravel and thoroughly compact. 3. Install Weed Barrier: Lay landscape fabric to prevent weeds, etc. from growing through the gravel. 4. Install Gravel Top Dressing: Spread +/- 3-4 inches of crusher run gravel and thoroughly compact. 5. Final Compaction: Fill and level surface as necessary and compact to create a firm, level, and comfortable walking surface. 6. Edging: Installation of edging to maintain trail in place will be determined by the City prior to bid due date.
