Site work for a playground / park / athletic field in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Completed plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field.

https://www.grandforksherald.com/news/local/backed-by-1-million-grant-from-ndad-work-begins-on-inclusive-playground-at-discovery-elementary The Grand Forks Park District and NDAD this spring announced the development of the new fully inclusive playground at NDAD Park, located at Discovery Elementary. It's the second all-inclusive playground announced this year in the region; another is being built in Fosston, Minnesota. NDGF Webcast - Bill Haase - Deer Season Lottery Preview 2026 - 05-14-2026.mp4 Marketing Director DeAnn Burckhard said NDAD is happy to be involved in the process of creating the park and playground. Construction started this month and is expected to be completed by late August. “We realized that we wanted to help make a bigger impact and so (NDAD and the city of Grand Forks) had some discussions about how we could do that. Finally we are in a position to where we can do this full entirely inclusive playground,” Burckhard said. The NDAD Park playground comes after Fosston announced the installation of an inclusive playground this summer as part of an upgrade to Berge-Stafford Park. NDAD has seen improvements in the way accessibility is handled and how communities have prioritized it among recreation areas. “Technology has completely changed,” Burckhard said. “People all over the state are looking for different ways to make their communities accessible. Throughout the years, you can see that different companies are making more accessible equipment because they know there are so many people having health challenges that are across a spectrum.” The NDAD playground was made possible by the NDAD's donation to the park district. The park will include elements that address sensory engagement and will create opportunities for meaningful experiences for those who need assistance to play. NDAD and Grand Forks had been in a two-year-long discussion regarding the park. The idea for the playground came later as a way to make a larger impact. “(The playground) is an exciting project that will remove barriers and expand access to play and we are thankful to NDAD for their generosity and share in their commitment to bringing inclusive recreational spaces to our community,” said Grand Forks Parks District Executive Director George Hellyer. Input from Discovery Elementary faculty was also considered, given the proximity to the school. NDAD has been active since 1975 and has been involved in grant projects across the state since 2015. These projects go beyond playgrounds; another example is the Escape to the Lake adaptive water skiing event in Center, North Dakota. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Site Preparation, Excavation, Subgrade Preparation, Geotextile Fabric, Aggregate Base Course, Concrete Sidewalk, Landscape Preparation, Seeding, Hydromulching, Erosion and Sediment Control, and other related items.
