Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Reston, Virginia. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a 30,000-square-foot, 18-unit, 30-bed, 10-room multi-residential development; for site work for a multi-residential development; municipal facility; and municipal facility.
The County of Fairfax, Virginia, Department of Public Works and Environmental Services (DPWES) is requesting statements of qualifications from architectural and engineering consulting firms for full design and construction administration services for a new Embry Rucker Shelter and Supportive Housing Project. The facility will be located on a new site in the Hunter Mill Magisterial District, known as Block 5. The new facility, approximately 30,000 square feet, will replace the current 11,000 square foot Embry Rucker Shelter. The scope of work includes providing emergency shelter, permanent supportive housing, accommodations for thirty single beds (including medical beds), around ten family rooms, about eighteen permanent supportive housing units (approximately 250 square feet each), and other supportive areas such as a hypothermia area, classroom, community dining room, kitchen, laundry, restrooms and showers, examination and medical rooms, mental health room, administrative offices, staff breakrooms, and support spaces. The supportive housing units are to be separated from the emergency shelter.
