Sealed bids are requested for the 2026 Sidewalk Replacement Program for the City of Auburn. Plans and specifications are available through the City's website. Bidders must deposit bid security as detailed in the Information for Bidders. Bidders must comply with all stated employment conditions and prevailing wage rates. The Owner reserves the right to waive informalities or reject any or all bids. The Owner and contractors are exempt from New York State and local sales and use taxes for materials and equipment used in the project. No bid may be withdrawn within 45 days after the opening date. The City is soliciting bids for the removal and replacement of deteriorated sidewalks and related pedestrian infrastructure at various locations throughout the City. The purpose of this program is to improve pedestrian safety, ensure ADA accessibility compliance, and replace damaged or noncompliant concrete facilities. Work locations will be identified by the City prior to construction and may include residential, commercial, and municipal areas. Scope of Work The work under this contract consists of furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, tools, supervision, and incidentals necessary to complete sidewalk and curb ramp improvements. Work generally includes, but is not limited to: o Saw cutting and removal of existing concrete sidewalks, curb ramps, and driveway aprons o Excavation and proper disposal of removed materials o Preparation, grading, and compaction of subgrade o Installation and compaction of approved subbase material o Installation of new Portland cement concrete sidewalks and driveway aprons o Construction of ADA-compliant curb ramps, including detectable warning units o Adjustment of minor appurtenances as required to complete the work o Restoration of disturbed lawn areas, including topsoil, seeding, and mulching o Maintenance and protection of pedestrian and vehicular traffic All dimensions, limits, and quantities will be determined in the field and directed by the City or its authorized representative. 1. Concrete/Curbing is to be placed within 10 days of excavation. 2. The City Sidewalk Program is for the installation of sidewalks and curbs as requested by the City Engineering Department. The quantities for the bid sheets are approximate. The quantities included in this document represent estimates on the limits of the project. The City reserves the right to identify additional project sites to reach the full amount of the contract. 3. Contractor must notify the Engineer when subgrade, forms, and grades are ready to be inspected. The Engineer needs to provide approval before the Contractor can pour/set the final concrete or curbing. 4. Location of utilities is the responsibility of the Contractor/Excavator. 5. All concrete/curb installation must include a 6" subbase. This item will be strictly enforced. All subbase will be checked by City Engineering before concrete is poured. The Engineering Department must be contacted before any and all concrete/curb can be removed. 6. A minimum of one rigid 1/2 " thick pre-formed asphalt-impregnated fiberboard expansion joint will be installed, at full thickness of the concrete, at every non-contiguous sidewalk replacement section. Maximum joint spacing shall not exceed 20 feet. Additional expansion joints will be installed per Spec. Item #608.01. 7. The Engineer will layout the curbed corners to maximize the radius of the corner. When the corner radius is increased significantly, some road restoration may be required beyond the item pay limit(s). The restoration beyond the item pay limit(s) may be paid under the respective terms. PRC #: 2026005586 Question Deadline 03/16/2026 at 11:00 AM ET No interpretation of the meaning of the plans, specifications, or other pre-bid documents will be made to any bidder orally. Every request for such interpretation or information shall be by email and sent to Scott McIntyre, Assistant Civil Engineer at smcintyre@auburnny.gov. All requests for Information (RFI) must be received by 11:00 am, 6 working days prior to the date fixed for the opening of bids to be given consideration.
