Demolition and renovation of a detention facility in Gainesville, Florida. Completed plans call for the renovation of a detention facility; and for the demolition of a detention facility.

5.1. Detention Sliding Door Device Replacement at the Alachua County Jail The contractor shall perform onsite visits to the jail to review each door opening included in the work. This review shall include verification of whether the opening is configured as a single sliding door or a double sliding door assembly, as well as review of the existing sliding door housing, mechanical components, mounting conditions, and interface points. Field verification is required to confirm compatibility of the proposed replacement device with the existing steel detention doors and surrounding construction. The project will be bid using a unit-price structure, with all materials, hardware, delivery, labor, equipment, disposal, and related costs included in the applicable unit prices, as further defined in the Pricing Proposal. Bidders will be required to submit pricing in accordance with the unit-price tables and provide a lead-time estimate for material delivery and installation readiness. The overall project will be conducted in phases, with all work coordinated closely with jail staff to ensure continuous operational security. Alachua County is undertaking a comprehensive replacement of detention-grade sliding door operating devices at the Alachua County Jail, located at 3333 NE 39th Ave, Gainesville, FL. The project involves removing existing sliding door mechanisms and installing new, detention-rated sliding device assemblies for multiple door types throughout the facility, including double sliding devices in corridor areas, pod entry sliding devices, and single sliding devices in various housing units. Each sliding door device is proprietary and varies by housing pod. Proposers are required to conduct onsite field investigation and verification of existing housings, door configurations, clearances, mounting conditions, and mechanical interfaces before finalizing submittals or fabrication. The work includes demolition of old components, installation of new operating mechanisms, reinstallation and adjustment of existing detention doors, security caulking, anchoring, hardware installation, and full operational testing.
