Site work for a transportation facility in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Completed plans call for site work for a transportation facility.
**As of May 19, 2026, the project was awarded to Emil Anderson Construction (EAC) Inc., with an awarded amount of $4,709,311.40** The Runway 07/25 Runway End Safety Areas (RESAs) and Pavement Repairs (the project) is scheduled for completion at the Abbotsford International Airport (CYXX) between mid-April and June 2026. Abbotsford International Airport is required by regulation to implement RESAs on Runway 07-25 by no later than June 30, 2026, and as such the pavement repairs completed within the same timelines. RESAs are defined surfaces that extend beyond the end of the runway to minimize the risk of damage to an aircraft in the event of an undershoot (landing short of the runway) or an overrun (exceeding the runway length). The RESA scope of work generally includes soil stripping, common excavation and disposal, granular backfill, topsoil reuse, hydroseeding, and minor airfield electrical modifications and existing underground utility protections. The RESA works are being combined with pavement repairs for Runway 07/25. The pavement repair areas are broken into three work areas: Threshold 07, Runway 07/25 at Taxiway D, and Runway 07/25 at Taxiway C1. The scope of work differs by location but generally includes select concrete panel removal and replacement, asphalt cold milling and asphalt paving, mastic maintenance measures, joint sealant removal and replacement, and replacement pavement markings. The project works are phased into work zones as communicated on the construction sequencing drawings and the Plan of Construction Operations (PCO) document – Appendix K. These include temporary facilities and daytime and nighttime construction shifts. All work will be completed on the airfield of CYXX. The airfield will remain active for most of the construction activities, with localized closures to facilitate the work. Specific entry points, gate guards, and airside escorts will be a component of the work as outlined in the PCO. Documents can be obtained from https://abbotsford.bidsandtenders.ca/
