Bids are solicited from contractors for the installation of approximately 403 linear feet of 8-inch sanitary sewer main (PVC SDR 35), 531 linear feet of 6-inch sanitary sewer service lateral (PVC SDR 35), 460 linear feet of 1.25-inch water service pipe (HDPE), one fire hydrant assembly, 760 linear feet of 12-inch storm sewer (HDPE), 1000 cubic yards of common excavation, 2600 tons of crushed aggregate base for roadway, 220 tons of 1.75-inch HMA pavement upper layer, 280 tons of 2.25-inch HMA pavement lower layer, 1330 linear feet of 30-inch concrete curb and gutter, 4800 square feet of 4-inch concrete sidewalk, 3000 square feet of 6-inch concrete sidewalk and driveway, and 850 square yards of restoration. No proposal will be accepted unless accompanied by a certified check or bid bond equal to at least 5% of the total bid, made payable to the City of Hartford, such guarantee to be forfeited should the successful Bidder fail to enter into the contract. The successful Bidder will be required to furnish a Performance Bond and a Payment Bond, each equal to 100 percent of the contract price. The Common Council of the City of Hartford reserves the right to reject any or all bids with respect to irregularities or technicalities, or to reject all bids outright, and further, to award the contract to the contractor who, in the judgment of the Common Council, will best serve the interest of the City of Hartford. All bids shall remain subject to acceptance for 60 days after the time set for opening Bids. Should a Bidder find a discrepancy or omission or be in doubt as to meaning, he should at once notify the ENGINEER for clarification. Interpretations or clarifications considered necessary by ENGINEER in response to such questions will be issued by Addenda mailed or delivered to all parties recorded by ENGINEER as having received the Bidding Documents. Questions received less than five days prior to the date for opening of Bids may not be answered.
