The County of Inyo Department of Public Works is soliciting proposals from qualified firms to provide geotechnical investigation and land surveying services for the Brockman Lane Bridge Project. The services required include subsurface exploration, laboratory testing, engineering analysis, and foundation design recommendations. Respondents are expected to submit proposals in accordance with the submission instructions, detailed scope of work, terms and conditions, and the applicable contract. Geotechnical Investigation & Surveying Services-- Brockman Lane Bridge Replacement - The scope shall include: o Performing two (2) subsurface borings, one at or near each proposed abutment location (see attached bridge plan). o Extending borings to depths sufficient to characterize foundation soils and groundwater conditions, but not less than approximately 20-30 feet below existing ground surface, or deeper if necessary to evaluate foundation performance and seismic site classification. o Conducting Standard Penetration Testing (SPT) at appropriate intervals in accordance with ASTM standards. o Collecting representative soil samples for laboratory testing and classification. o Recording groundwater observations during drilling and upon completion if groundwater is encountered. o Coordinating utility clearance through Underground Service Alert (USA) prior to drilling. Laboratory Testing Laboratory testing shall be performed as necessary to develop engineering design parameters. Testing may include: o Moisture content o Unit weight o Grain-size distribution (sieve analysis) o Atterberg limits for fine-grained soils o Shear strength testing where necessary o Corrosion testing for buried structural elements if warranted Question Deadline 03/20/2026 at 4:00 PM PT
